Pricing + Tariff Update
Here we are joining the rest of the matcha community with a price update due to tariffs + rapidly changing matcha market. Please read on for details and price implementation dates.
Dear Matcha Freaks!
As many of you know, matcha is facing a pivotal year of change. Demand is higher than ever, climate change has led to a lower crop yield, and severe increase of tariffs has led to inevitable increase in costs across the board.
As of August 1st, Japan and USA reached a finalized tariff agreement that locked in a 15% rate for all Japanese imported goods. This is a substantial increase over the rate prior to March 2025. We have held off on a price increase due to the tariffs for as long as we could, but as of October 15th we will be increasing our prices to reflect the market.
You have until October 15th to shop and stock up on all your matcha goodies at our current pricing.
Like always we are finding a bright light in this moment..we are also releasing a brand new matcha called SOGEN in October.
SOGEN is the Japanese word for meadow. SOGEN tastes like the first buds of honeysuckle mixed with the greenery of the fresh pastures of Ise. This matcha is fresh like a spring breeze rolling over grassy hills. A high grade ceremonial tea, SOGEN will be priced between KAIGAN and UMI as our middle grade option. It will be available in 30g, 100g and wholesale bulk sizes.
We are thrilled to diversify and round out our matcha lineup during this time of skyrocketing demand and we encourage you to buy and try when she lands this upcoming month. You wont be disappointed. We promise.
Here is a quick summary of dates and details to pay attention to for now:
KAIGAN is currently on pre-order (wholesale and reatil), Orders will be sent out the week of SEPTEMBER 22. This is our most popular matcha and most accessible. We highly suggest preordering if you would like product before mid October. She runs out fast and its a first come, first serve situation. We are going to try our hardest to keep this product as accessible as possible and inventory flowing 💚.
UMI is stocked for retail. Our inventory is dwindling and our next restock will reflect the new prices. So, it you love her, go get her now.
SOGEN is coming out next month!
HOJICHA is stocked (wholesale and retail) and prices will be increasing. So if you have wanted to try it, get it.
