Officially titled The Freak-A-Leak… this is where we plan on leaking all the matcha hot gossip, fav recipes & matcha biz news announcements. Oh and also sharing things like playlists, collabs, and the freaky things we get up to.
Before we dig into all things matcha, we wanted to take a moment to thank you. Some of y’all have been here since day one and shown us nothing but support through the last 2 years (our 2nd bday is in December 🎉). And as we hit these milestones in business growth, we know who gets to take the credit…. EVERY SINGLE FREAK WHO HAS GOTTEN JOY FROM OUR TEA. Your love for matcha freak is absolutely contagious. Don’t ever stop. You inspire us every damn day.
OK, let’s get down to business…
NEWS: We are hitting our first major growth threshold where the demand has outgrown our inventory plan. This is a good problem to have, but still a problem. It means that we have repeatedly sold out of product since August 1st which has been stressful and really fun at the same time cause this is business and the freak loves to hustle hard.
It has taken almost two months, but we are getting inventory back on track. These growing pains are real and we now understand the international aspects of importing demand time and continued coordination with our partners. The matcha dusted silver lining in all this is that we are now closer to our Japanese partners than ever before; our growth is their growth. We are both small, family-run entities that depend on plants and dedicated farmers for our livelihood. It takes dedication and patience at every turn.
It shows in the matcha that we all are very proud to be able to serve you freaks…a symbol of the truest, freakiest collaboration ever and we are so happy you love it.
So as we plan to scale over the next year, sustainability and transparency are our top priorities. We want the freak to be around for as long as the matcha freaks will have us, and continuously work toward our core mission of getting MATCHA TO THE MASSES.
The next 4 months will be crucial to our long-term success. In October we are increasing our inventory by at least 75%. This is HUGE for us and our production partners…and a risk we are more than happy to take. We are betting that we can sell all the matcha that is grown, plucked, steamed, and ground to order.… a total of 80,000 matcha lattes …. because you have shown us that you are as dedicated to this plant and product as we are.
So, freaks, keep doing what you are doing.

If you are planning on gifting matcha freak during the holidays, now is the time to BUY. Orders will go out by the second week of October. If you are currently waiting on an order, we promise to get it to you as soon as possible, but we are currently waiting for our shipment to land. We promise to make it up to you if you wait more than 2 weeks.
