Katy (MF Founder) has been dreaming of custom made chawans since the beginning and this collaboration with Alexandria is a dream come true.
Ceramic vessels used for tea are an inherent part of tea drinking culture around the world, and especially in Japan. Very often households will possess vessels made from both local and international artists alike; and when the vessels are used, stories of both the artist and how they were found will be told to guests. The narrative of ceramics is a constant and welcomed presence.
Katy and Alexandria have been part of the fabric of the small business creative community in Portland, Oregon for years. This custom project has brought them together to tell stories of color, inspiration, and texture. Alexandria has traveled to Japan to study ceramics and has been inspired by the Japanese way of working with clay. Together they picked out the colors that speak to the overall brand and essence of bridging both Japanese and Portland creative cultures.
