Matcha Freak Sogen matcha 100g

$69.00

SOGEN そうげん is the Japanese word for meadow. It is a blend of first and second flush leaves and is a high-grade matcha.

When we first tried this first flush matcha, we felt transported to the lush, green fields of Ise in bloom. The honeysuckle sweetness of the ground leaves is so present in this tea that we could almost smell them as well as taste them.

Visit our Learn page for more information about Sogen.

To us here at Matcha Freak, this tea represents the hope and infinite possibilities of spring. Our company is based in Portland, OR, where, after long and dark winters, March and April are filled with blossoming trees and flowers wherever you look. It is a time when our community begins to waken after a dark, cold slumber.

Sogen Matcha arrives at a time when our community needs the same feeling of light and hope during a period of extended darkness. Because of that, we have decided that she is a warrior of light.

8% of all net profits from Sogen tin and bag sales will be donated to the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition, which supports our local immigrant community through legal support, advocacy, direct assistance, education, and community organizing.
