SOGEN そうげん is the Japanese word for meadow. It is a blend of first and second flush leaves and is a high-grade matcha.
When we first tried this first flush matcha, we felt transported to the lush, green fields of Ise in bloom. The honeysuckle sweetness of the ground leaves is so present in this tea that we could almost smell them as well as taste them.

Our company is based in Portland, OR, where, after long and dark winters, March and April are filled with blossoming trees and flowers wherever you look. It is a time when our community begins to waken after a dark, cold slumber.
